CinemaCon 2025 is underway in Vegas and we’re on the ground in Sin City to cover it all! The latest presentation was for Lionsgate, who has a big year ahead. With multiple Keanu Reeves films presented (and announced), with both Good Fortune from Aziz Ansari and the upcoming John Wick spinoff, Ballerina starring Academy Award Nominee Ana de Armas, the studio has a big year ahead. We got a first look at the latest installment of Now You See Me, a first look at the Paul Feig thriller, The Housemaid and even a mini concert from The Weeknd to promote Hurry Up Tomorrow. I highly doubt any other studio will end on that thrilling of a sendoff.

Some films were not entirely presented, including Antoine Fuqua’s Michael, which the teaser trailer premiered at last year’s CinemaCon. The controversial film about Michael Jackson was mentioned but only that new information would be made available in the next upcoming weeks.

The presentation kicked off with what seems to be the biggest film of their slate, Ballerina. Ana de Armas was on hand with Len Wiseman to discuss the film after premiering new footage. The extended look at Ballerina, which still featured that Charli XCX remix of Von Dutch, showcased a lengthy action sequence with de Armas shining as an action star taking down a man, snapping his arm, shooting him in the head. When you think it’s over, the lengthy scene continues as a woman attacks Eve (de Armas) and the two go at it, slamming plates on each other until Eve locks her in a freezer. Wiseman said he was so attracted to the world of John Wick due to the action’s cleverness and wit and he was eager to work in a world featuring it. For the training, de Armas said this was the most physical and challenging thing she’s ever done. She referenced training for a few weeks for her James Bond part and here she had 3 to 4 months of training, including four-to-five-hour days with a stunt team at 87Eleven. As a former dancer, it was amazing to hear her acknowledge how ballet is one of ‘the hardest disciplines you could ever practice’

Ballerina will be exclusively in theaters on June 6, 2025.

Up next, a total tonal change, David Jonsson, Mark Hamill and director Francis Lawrence were on hand to introduce the first trailer for The Long Walk. The film, based on the Stephen King novel, is set in a dystopian alternate world, ruled by a totalitarian regime, the plot follows the contestants of a grueling annual walking contest. The rest of the cast alongside Jonsson and Hamill includes Cooper Hoffman, Charlie Plummer, Judy Greer, Tut Nyuot and Jordan Gonzales. The trailer is dark and bleak as you briefly follow the boys on this walking contest as we pass dead animals and eventually see some of the boys shot by the army following them. Jonsson spoke about how due to the film’s premise it was mostly shot in chronological order. He says he feels still new in the industry, but this project made him feel stretched as an actor. Everyone wanted to make something so real and so special.

Jonsson spoke of the bond he has with the other actors from the emotional journey they went on together (and physical walking 10-15 miles a day!), while Hamill joked as the antagonist in the film, he did not get to become too friendly while filming at least.

The Long Walk will be exclusively in theaters on September 12, 2025.

Lawrence remained on stage to discuss The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping. Billy Ray is working on the screenplay and casting is underway, with a July start shoot planned. The animated logo, which is available online now, was debuted at CinemaCon.

The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping will release in theaters on November 20, 2026.

Luca Guadagnino, who will be here for another presentation later this week he mentions, sent in a video from Italy to provide an update on his adaptation of American Psycho, the novel. Scott Z. Burns is working on a script and they’re currently in discussion with actors for the lead role. Guadagnino says the novel is very special to him and he’s very excited to have a new update on the film later this year.

Tick, tock, Mr. Wick! Lionsgate is going even harder in the world of John Wick. First up, with an animated action film featuring the renowned assassin, voiced by Reeves. The film will be directed by Shannon Tindle and written by Vanessa Taylor. The animated film will serve as an origin story of John Wick before the first film, as he completes the Impossible Task—the killing of all of his rivals in one night—in order to free himself from his obligation to the High Table and earn the right to be with the love of his life, Helen. Up next, it was confirmed that action legend Donnie Yen will be back for his spin off film, for his iconic character Caine, in which he will also direct. The Caine film will begin production in Hong Kong later this year. It was also announced that Mattson Tomlin, writer of the upcoming The Batman Part II and the adaptation of the Keanu Reeves-created comic book BRZRKR, has joined to write the project. The previous draft of the screenplay of the new film was written by Robert Askins. And finally, Chad Stahelski and Reeves will return for John Wick: Chapter Five. While not mention was confirmed for CinemaCon audiences, it was assured by Lionsgate chair, Adam Fogelson it will be a worthy return, as he said, “Keanu, Chad, Basil [Iwanyk], and Erica [Lee] would not return unless they had something truly phenomenal and fresh to say with these characters and this world. We can’t wait for audiences to see where the journey takes us next.”

Ruben Fleischer’s Now You See Me Now You Don’t, which was in production during the last CinemaCon, is finally coming! The highly anticipated third installment debuted its trailer with its returning cast, including Jesse Eisenberg, Woody Harrelson, Morgan Freeman, Dave Franco, and Isla Fisher, and newcomers, including Justice Smith, Dominic Sessa, Rosamund Pike, and Ariana Greenblatt. The trailer showcased the way the film will match up the original ‘Four Horsemen’ and the newer characters as essential copycats, with Pike as a delicious supervillain. Lionsgate are so thrilled with Fleischer’s work on this installment, they’re already at work with him on a fourth installment.

Now You See Me Now You Don’t will be in theaters November 14, 2025.

More Keanu Reeves was on hand at Lionsgate today. Aziz Ansari’s feature directorial debut, Good Fortune, premiered footage at least year’s CinemaCon and was back this year with a full-length trailer. The trailer starts with Ansari as an assistant down on his luck to a wealthy boss, played by Seth Rogen. An angel named Gabriel (Reeves) comes into show Ansari that money won’t solve all of his problems by swapping the lives of Ansari and his boss. However, it has the opposite effect, as all of his problems disappear. The film also features Keke Palmer and Sandra Oh and appears to be a fresh take on something like A Christmas Carol. It seems like a huge crowd pleaser full of star power and great comedic performances.

Good Fortune will be released in theaters this fall.

What could be better than Paul Rudd singing? What about Rudd singing with Nick Jonas? Power Ballad, from Sing Street director John Carney, follows Rudd, a has-been musician meeting a boyband breakout, Jonas, and bonding and working together as Jonas tries to become a more ‘serious’ musician. Eventually, Rudd finds out Jonas has ripped off his music and created a hit song with it. It seems a bit more commercial from Carney but will definitely have great music and Rudd and Jonas have pretty good chemistry in the footage we saw.

Sydney Sweeney, Amanda Seyfried, Brandon Sklenar, and Paul Feig were up next to present the debut trailer for their thriller, The Housemaid. Feig, who was so thrilled to be back at CinemaCon and just signed a first-look deal at Lionsgate, said he’s such a huge fan of thrillers and has been so eager to dive into a darker story. Sweeney spoke about reading the book and not being able to put it down; when she found out there was a film in the works, she had to be involved both as an actor and with her growing impressive producing credits. The trailer is intense, wild, and bloody and was described as going further than the book even did. With such a promising cast, a hit book adaptation, and a great storyteller behind it, The Housemaid seems like the perfect end of year hit.

The Housemaid opens in theaters on December 25, 2025.

Hurry Up Tomorrow wrapped up the Lionsgate presentation with a new trailer, now available online. Jenna Ortega was on hand with co-writer/director Trey Edward Shults to discuss the process of making the film and introduce the new footage. Ortega described the film more of an experience versus just something you watch. In order to send that message home, CinemaCon was treated to a performance from The Weeknd, who co-wrote and stars in the film. He performed two songs from the album of the same name, Cry for Me and Open Hearts, before ending on his huge hit, Blinding Lights, which even had Mark Hamill dancing.

Hurry Up Tomorrow will hit theaters on May 16, 2025.
